KBOX 10507 is a squeaky, colorful Fantasy Plaza modular building with 3140 JieStar pieces; here is a full review.

Modular buildings, especially buildings that can be easily assembled to form a city, are a popular theme in the brick world. LEGO led the way. Many other sets followed, including MOCs from Rebrickable or alternative manufacturers from China.

Most modular buildings are inspired by modern architecture, but there are exceptions. I’m building one of those for you: the KBOX 10507.

KBOX 10507 review

I bought the set from Amazon.de a year ago. It is not directly from KBOX but from MISINI, a repackager. That means they put the set in a black box with their logo. In reality, however, it is a KBOX set.

The delivery arrived quickly and came in a simple black box. Is it a new design or a stolen MOC? I researched and found no evidence that it was stolen, so I assume it is an original design from KBOX.

The set has 3140 pieces and is packaged into numbered plastic bags. JieStar is the manufacturer of the bricks and parts. There are also big printed instructions.

Take a quick look at the assembly instructions. They are large and in full color, with 226 and 542 pages, respectively. The print quality is great, and everything can be read. There is also a large sheet with 23 stickers between the first pages, which I prefer to ignore.

If you buy the set directly from China, it contains LEGO minifigure clones. These were not included when I bought it from MISINI and, therefore, are not part of the review.

It’s time to brick.

Step 1

In the first step, the famous tile party is again underway. First, I tiled a classic 32×32 baseplate with various tile colors: dark blueish gray, light blueish gray, blue, and more.

In the second part of step 1, I added a 16×16 baseplate, which was also tiled. A checkerboard pattern was used here, giving the whole thing an interesting look.

The quality of the JieStar parts was good. I had no problems to report.

Step 2

In the second step, our Fantasy Plaza began to grow. First, a library was built. Inside there are some bookshelves, a checkout area, rotating shelves and more.

The orange signal color for the interior is striking and unusual. I would have preferred medium or dark brown. Nevertheless, it is beautifully furnished and detailed. There is also a staircase leading to the first floor that has yet to be built.

step 2

I had a small problem with the pink “pliers” parts. JieStar packed a reversed version in the bags. It was to be built as shown here, but you must be careful that the order is correct.

The first walls were also built in light blueish grey. The quality of the basic bricks is solid.

More walls were built around the bookstore.

KBOX 10507 review step 2

If you turn the set, you can see a nice little detail of the Fantasy Plaza. A secret door is built in, and a wall can be opened and closed thanks to a hinge construction.

There is a bookshelf, probably with secret books that cannot be sold legally.

secret door

In the next sub-step of Step 2, the entrance area to the Fantasy Plaza was built next to the bookstore. A light blue was used for the floor here, which is very bright.

On the right, you will find a brick-built artwork, a teddy bear, and two orchid-like plants. I think this area is very well done. The entrance area also has a table with a golden minifigure.

Entrance area

Here is a view of the entrance avenue from above. The built staircase, which fits perfectly into the white and blue design, is also visible.

Step 3

The entrance area in the third step is covered with white and black parts. It is beautifully built with a double-sided slope, which gives the whole thing its own character. There is also a brown bench and a printed sign – one of the few printed parts in the set.

KBOX 10507 review step 3

On the left side, I built a kitchen with many small utensils (cups, bottles…). I dig the double cupboards in red and wits its white drawers – fits nicely in the room. But it is not yet clear what the kitchen here belongs to.

step 3 kitchen

A small market was added in the front left area with two refrigerators and a checkout area. Unfortunately, the refrigerators’ doors are not of good quality and swing constantly. Nevertheless, they look very eye-catching with the built interior.

Convenience Store

At the end of the third step, a dark blueish-gray wall was constructed around the convenience store. Two tilting windows at the front could possibly be used as a takeaway. A highlight is the brick-built ATM in light blueish gray and green.

With this built, step 3 and the ground floor of the KBOX 10507 Fantasy Plaza were finished. Here are views from all sides.

step 3 full

I like the modern side construction, which is made of slope bricks and windows. Only the strong sprue points do not have such a beautiful effect on the appearance.

step 3 full side

At the back, there is a green trash bin and a brown box with tools like a broom.

step 3 backside

And here is a look from the top on the ground floor.

Step 4

In step 4, I built the foundation for the first floor in light rose/orange, an interesting color scheme. I then placed a small terrace on top of it.

step 4

Then came the classic brick fun to extend the bookshop from step 2 upwards. A highlight is a built chandelier that towers over the bookshop—a lovely detail. Pictures were also added to the left and right. The oval design of the outer walls is also beautiful.

step 4 book library

Inside, work continued on the second floor, with the construction of a lounge area with a brick-built blue couch and more books—a very cozy extension for the bookshop.

step 4 book library

The walls were then built in purple. The color is very striking but was pleasant to build. A double white staircase with brown tiles was attached to the building. That’s not all. Also, a small terrace with some flowers was constructed at the back.

book library

The newly constructed staircase leads to the roof of the Fantasy Plaza, where you can find a tiny mini golf course in green. For me, a highlight of the set.

The last sub-step was more fiddly. I installed the pink glass front, which kept collapsing during construction. Here’s a tip: Build all the windows onto the upper construction and insert them. This makes them easier to attach.

Plus, I built the name “BOOK” with stones as a shield and an owl in the middle. I also provided an arched entrance to the bookstore. Here, too, the brick construction was a bit fiddly.

KBOX 10507 review step 4

Let’s look at the back, where you can also see the small terrace. Step 4 was finished.

The construction was a lot of fun, and there was little to complain about in terms of the quality of the parts.

KBOX 10507 review step 4 back

So, it was time for step 5.

Step 5

This is for all fans of the light rose/orange tone from Step 4. It appeared again in step 5 in the same area, the foundation.

The construction was a bit shaky at first. But with multiple layers and the tiles, it became much more stable.

step 5 floor

And the question of why a kitchen is on the ground floor has now been solved. In Step 5, I built a lovely diner/restaurant.

The stairs’ construction is a bit unstable. They use round bricks in transparent green, which don’t hold well. They fall quickly, so be careful.

step 5 diner

I like the diner’s round design and glass look. It’s very small, but it fits well here. Especially, the turquoise posts and plates harmonize well with the look and provide a good contrast.

step 5 diner

Once built, the small restaurant was easily integrated into the modular building. The KBOX 10507 Fantasy Plaza also gained a new tiny terrace, and its first floor was finalized with blue-transparent plates and more green elements.

Another green plant was installed on the side, making the first floor look lively.

step 5 side

A view of the small diner/restaurant from above. It looks very pretty.

Step 6

At step 6, a second floor of the dining room was built. The stairs from step 5 lead directly to this floor, which is built in the same glass design but a little simpler. The construction had the same weakness in that it was a bit wobbly at first.

step 6

It has a round table with four chairs, a coffee machine, and a plant. It could be a kind of meeting room.

KBOX 10507 step 6 diner

Another staircase was built outside, which leads to the roof terrace, which was also built in Step 6.

It is very sweetly implemented with many plants and flowers, a table with a parasol, and a little brown bird.

step 6 rooftop

Step 7

In step 7, I built a large white palm tree/plant on the left side. I also built a fountain in the middle—an obligatory feature of a plaza. Additionally, there is a large black-and-white lamp on the right side and other set decorations.

As I said, my set did not include mini-figures, but they were specified in the last step. And so the set is finished.

KBOX 10507 Review Conclusion

In summary, the KBOX 10507 Fantasy Plaza was a lot of fun. It will probably be one of the weirdest and most colorful modular buildings in alternate brick history. I’m pretty sure it will certainly not please everyone.

If you want exotic sets in the modular building world, the Fantasy Plaza will give you a total dose. The JieStar brick quality was very satisfying and didn’t cause me any major problems when building. Only the 1×1 green transparent, round bricks were not the best.

The instructions were also nicely designed and contributed significantly to the building experience. Colors were right, and the illustrations were top-notch.

Yes, I’m strict. The large sticker sheet gets a minus point. This also applies to the incorrect pink plier parts for the window construction—all in all, it is a fun, colorful modular building with a different touch.

Pro

  • solid brick quality, even if you have to press harder
  • intriguing design
  • instruction
  • pad prints

Neutral

  • color choice

Contra

  • many stickers
  • misaligned pliers parts
