Funwhole FH-9001 review: a lovely brick-built wood cabin with 2097 pieces with an included LED system, no minifigures and prints but stickers.
The Wood Cabin is one of the first Funwhole sets launched in 2022. It was the starting point for many other sets
Funwhole FH-9001 review
My wallet kindly sponsored this Funwhole set, so it’s a non-sponsored review. I bought the set from Barweer for under 80€, and delivery was fast as usual. It came again in a very unspectacular brown box.
Let’s move on to the key features:

The set was not delivered in the original high-quality Funwhole packaging but in a classic brown box directly from China.
This contained the numbered bags, the LED set in individual bags, building instructions, and a green 32×32 baseplate. The latter was slightly bent during shipping, meaning some tiles did not hold perfectly initially.
Instruction
Let’s examine the building instructions. They are beautifully illustrated and give a precise overview of which bags are needed for each building step.
Interestingly, the set has just a few chapters, five in total for the 2097 pieces. This is because many bags are divided into five areas. The manual is good; only this set’s color quality could improve. It was tricky to see the right one, especially with dark colors like black or brown.
Ground Level
The first bags (1) all go towards building the base area, mainly consisting of the wood cabin’s foundation and many green elements. The small hut for the brick-built wood is a lovely little detail here.
In the first chapter, we already started installing the LED kit. I managed this without any problems. We also installed the included battery box. It is optional, as the set can also operate the lights with a USB power bank.
Parts of the set are then covered with brown fences. Various food items are stored in wooden boxes in the cellar.
First Floor: Living Room
Construction Chapter 2 is one of the biggest. Here, you had to open bags from sections 2, 3, and 4 simultaneously. That was a pretty impressive amount of parts lying on the table.
I recommend putting the bags separately in boxes because many things are built in sequence. Talking about building. In this section you build the first floor with the terrace and the interior furnishings.
I really like the rustic look of the terrace. It has the classic look that you can find on a wooden hut.
The construction is a bit tricky and imperfect, especially since the railings in the middle are not fixed and float in the air. This makes the terrace area a bit unstable. Also, one of the pipes was missing, but I could replace it.
Go on to the first-floor interior, which consists of three areas: a kitchen, a living room, and a bathroom—a highlight of this set.
It is tiled in two colors: dark tan and medium nougat. The color choice complements the interior and adds warmth.
Kitchen & Living Room
A look to the left leads to the kitchen, which leaves nothing to be desired. It has kitchen appliances and furniture but also suitable foods such as a croissant and more. Some elements of the kitchen are a bit pale because they have normally stickers on them that I did not attach.
In the middle of the kitchen, you also have a dark brown brick-built table with four chairs. A bit impractical is that the chairs are only pushed in and are not attached. This means that they tend to fall out if you transport the set.
To the right is the living room, which has a brown sofa and a beautiful black fireplace. An LED is also installed in this so that it can light up. Nice! In addition, it offers various pieces of furniture, such as a bookshelf.
Yes, of course, there is a bathroom. You enter through a sliding door, and you can find a toilet and a shower—the most important thing in a bathroom. For me, it is simple and beautifully implemented in white.
The cables of the LED kits are a bit disturbing in terms of appearance as they run through many of the walls on the first floor.
It doesn’t look nice, but I did my best to hide them as much as possible. Some tiles also lose some grip because the cables are underneath them.
Not to be outdone, it’s a beautiful building chapter. It was a lot of fun to build, and it’s a wonderful and authentic section. I couldn’t imagine a wooden hut any other way.
2nd Floor: Bed Room
Let’s go to the second floor. Here is the bedroom with a small work area. By the way, a cat looks into the living room. You had to open the bags with the number 5 to craft this. Compared to the previous, it was a small building chapter.
This level is also tiled with the same color combination as the first level in dark tan and medium nougat. I was also missing parts in this area. I would have to contact the Funwhole After Sales service for this. Since this can take weeks, I tried to fix it with other colors. I’m honest in this Funwhole FH-9001 review with you.
On the left and right, I built walls in medium nougat and tan to prepare for the roof’s construction. There is also a small window on each wall.
LED kit elements were also mounted on this level. These were just as fiddly to install as the previous ones.
The Roof
The last major construction step in this set was the roof, which consists of two elements: one fixed and one that can be bent. A wild combination of plates created the surface on which various colored tiles were placed.
A mixture to create a rustic look. You could also place stickers on the tiles to make a wooden look. Nope, I didn’t do that.
The two gauges on this roof are a bit tricky to build. Unfortunately, they are not 100% fixed—maybe that’s only the case with my set.
The last step in the instruction was a brick-built tree and sheep that fit well with the look of the house. And so the Funwhole FH-9001 cabin wood is ready.

Here are some pictures of the finished set.
Funwhole FH-9001 Review Conclusion
The FH-9001 wood cabin from 2022 is a beautiful, detailed set that offers a lot of building fun. The mix of different colors harmonizes nicely with this set. It looks very realistic, and you immediately feel like you are in a forest.
Like many other Funwhole sets, it has a lovely, detailed, crafted interior that can score points here. The included LED set adds the finishing touches. The brick and general part quality was high and convincing.
I feel it is even better on newer sets like the Funwhole F9023, which I also built. However, I do criticize the overall stability of the set. Since the dormers on the roof and the individual levels are not 100% fixed, something can quickly break if you transport it.
I like the interior design of the set, especially the apartment room. Very beautiful and authentic. You want to sit on the couch in front of the cabin yourself.
The fact that everything is done with stickers instead prints leaves a shadow on the overall impression. I would have expected prints here from Funwhole. The LED kit could also be better.
It’s great that it’s included and that Funwhole also shows how to lay it out (unlike Mould King). However, the installation requires a lot of dexterity/agility in places, and often, the bricks no longer hold perfectly. Funwhole F9023 and its LED system were definitely better here.
Plastic minus points also for the missing parts. My set was missing more than five parts. I was able to replace the parts with my own, but that shouldn’t have happened, given the quality standards that Funwhole wants to have
All in all, the Funwhole FH-9001 is a remarkable set that you can always enjoy looking at. It has a few weak points that make it not 100% perfect. Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun. You can tell that it was one of the first Funwhole sets because experience has shown that others have improved.
